My fond memories of my mom was when she would always think of ways on how to perk me up when I'm feeling down. She delights me with her thoughtfulness like bringing me out to the mall and buying me a little something, to put my mind off from sadness. I know my mom is someone I can always count on.

Well this happened between my mom and I last Christmas. December 20, my birthday, I was rushed to the hospital because of extreme chest pain. I thought it was heartburn, but during that afternoon, it was found that I have gall stones and I had to be operated immediately. My gall bladder is about to rupture, and that would mean a 50/50 chance to live.

My mom came over that evening and it was agreed that she will be the one to take care of me in the hospital. December 22, 7pm, I underwent surgery.

When I woke up, I saw my mom, she's beside me, and immediately checked my condition. I cannot speak and move. And at that moment, I did not know that I was about to begin to truly realize how my mom would really make all efforts to help me get back in shape..

She never left me. Always checking me from time to time if I am in pain. Spoon-fed me for as long as I needed it. Been really patient with my grunts, my favors, my needs. I know that time how tired my mom is, but still she never showed it to me.

Evening of Christmas eve, my wound still hadn't stopped bleeding. The doctor informed us that I had to undergo surgery again Christmas day. I can't help it, tears started falling. I was thinking of my mom, she was expecting to go home the next day, and she was really worn out then. But then after a a while, I managed to look at her and she just smiled and said, "You'll get well soon, and we'll spend the Christmas eve here together while looking up to the sky and praying" :)

That is my the best Christmas ever :) December 28, we both got back home :) Needless to say, she took extra care of me from Day 1 up to the time I can already start doing tasks.

Thank you, Mom! :)

Way back in high school (80s), there was this popular greek mythology book that I wanted and for some reason my mom didn't agree to me buying it which made me very sad. One day, I was called to the school registrar for the first time (so I was a bit nervous and worried what might have happened) and lo and behold, there it was, my greek mythology book! Inside it was note from my mom saying for me to bring it to her when I leave for our province that weekend (since she left ahead of me) so we can read it together. Can never forget that day which put a big smile on my face :-)
